How to Change a Battery for a GE IC693CPU374

April 1, 2015
Qualitrol International provides support for PLC systems through its remanufactured business, its repair services, and its field technical support. Today, Stan Baker, our Senior PLC Engineer, is going to show us how to change a battery for a GE IC693CPU374. Stan: As in all 9030PLCs, the backup battery for the CPU is located in the power supply that is plugged into the same base plate as the CPU. To access the battery, go to this door at the bottom of the power supply and gently pop it open, lift open the door, make sure the wires come out cleanly, and then gently remove the plug from inside. Take the replacement battery. Plug it in into the same socket. Make sure that the battery light goes out. Put the new battery into the door and carefully put the wires back into the power supply, and close the door. This process applies also to the CPU372. Also, you may have noted that the power was still on when I did this. We recommend that you replace batteries with the power still up. That way you can be assured that the program and the configuration will be retained during this process. Thank you.
