The GE-Emerson IC660ELB906 Genius IC660ELB906 l/O IBM PC Interface daughterboard serves as a general-purpose I/O controller, offering a convenient means to control devices on the Genius serial bus. The daughterboard is responsible for carrying out initialization and fault management tasks for a maximum of 30 bus devices. It also stores current images of the I/O that each device controls and has the ability to communicate with other controllers on the bus by transmitting background messages unrelated to I/O commands.

The interface is specially optimized for the IBM personal computer bus. The network data rate can be configured using an on-board dip switch, providing the PCIM daughterboard with the capability to handle protocols and offer a general-purpose, non-time-critical way to connect to the Genius twisted pair network.
